Sexy surprises await Law & Order: SVU detectives Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Stabler (Chris Meloni) when the long-running NBC drama returns on Wednesdays at 10pm after the Olympics. “We are very happy to move back to our old time period after 10 years [of being on the air],” says executive producer Neal Baer, who is taking full advantage of the later hour.
First up: Kathy Griffin guest stars on March 3 in one of two back-to-back episodes as a militant lesbian named Babs Duffy who plants one on an undercover Benson. “Yes, we have a lesbian kiss,” Kathy says. “The director told us he needed the kiss to be longer, so we ended up really making out. I was basically trying to get laid.”
Kathy may also be getting some action from Chris. And expect the sweat to fly when Chris is reunited with his old Oz boyfriend, Lee Tergesen. He guest stars in the other episode as a crazed killer who attacks Mischa Barton’s hooker character, Gladys. “Chris and Lee have a pretty intense scene,” Baer says.
But that’s not all. Sharon Stone appears in the season’s last four episodes, which start in late April. “She’s the new assistant district
attorney and we’re calling her Jo Marlowe,” says Baer, who culled the name from his favorite actress, Kim Novak. Hollywood producers tried to rename the actress Kit Marlowe, which eventually became the name of Kim’s character on Falcon Crest back in 1987.
Baer describes Jo as “a funny adrenaline junkie who loves to be in the middle of everything and shares a past with Stabler. She’s been married before and has a lot of secrets.” Any chance Sharon’s character could continue in the fall? “Well, you’ll have to see what happens to her in our season finale,” Baer says. Uh-oh! |
