Deadline’s Nellie Andreeva reports that as expected, Kathryn Erbe has signed on to reprise the role of Detective Eames for the eight episode final season of Law & Order: Criminal Intent. She joins Vince D’Onofrio who had already signed up to return as Detective Goren.
“We’re thrilled to have Kathryn Erbe return as Detective Eames, the perfect complement to Donofrio’s Detective Goren,” said USA’s president of original programming Jeff Wachtel. “We now have the definitive team for the ultimate season of this phenomenal show.”

Chris Brancato is taking over showrunning duties on USA's Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
The writer has a list of credits that include episodes of Law & Order: SVU, Boomtown and the original Beverly Hills, 90210.
L&O franchise veteran Walon Green is stepping down from the top post and leaving the show.
The showrunner shakeup is the latest in a series of changes for the CI's tenth and final season. Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe are returning to the show, but Jeff Goldblum and Eric Bogosian exited the series.
The final eight episodes of CI will air on USA starting in April.

Exclusive: Criminal Intent Gets New Captain
by Nellie Andreeva
February 10, 2011 10:33 AM PST
There’s a new big cheese on Law & Order: Criminal Intent.
Veteran character actor Jay O. Sanders has been tapped to play the new captain of the Major Case Squad and boss to Robert Goren (Vincent D’Onofrio) and Alexandra Eames (Kathryn Erbe). Sanders will appear in all eight episodes of the show’s upcoming tenth and final season.
This is the fourth captain on L&O:CI following Jamey Sheridan’s James Deakins, Eric Bogosian’s Danny Ross and, most recently, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio’s Zoe Callas.
Sanders is something of a L&O franchise vet, having guest-starred on both L&O:CI and the mothership. His film credits include The Day After Tomorrow, Revolutionary Road and the upcoming Green Lantern.
Thoughts on this casting? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Thumbs sideways?
