|Actor Richard Belzer found himself on the wrong side of the law after an employee at a Manhattan Apple store told cops the "Law & Order" star attacked her, police sources said.|
Milan Agnew, 21, of Manhattan, claimed Belzer, 65, entered the upper West Side store yesterday, grabbed her by the shoulders, shook her, choked her and barked, "I need help!"
Agnew, an aspiring dancer and recent Marymount Manhattan College grad, called 911 and later filed a complaint with the NYPD, which alleged only harassment, a minor violation.
Belzer, who plays Sgt. John Munch on the TV show, was questioned by cops and was not charged with a crime. He told officers he was "just joking," the sources said.
Agnew was too upset to talk last night, but her grandmother described her as "angry" that Belzer wasn't slapped with assault charges.
"She told me, 'Nana, he didn't just touch me, he choked me and really scared me,' " said Anita McKnight.
"My granddaughter is petite, just 5-feet-2 and she's a dancer so she doesn't have much body to her. Where does this man come off putting his hands on her?"
Witnesses said the 6-foot-1 Belzer was clad in black and walked into and out of the store three times after pacing up and down the block.
Witness Jonathan Fox, 37, was surprised Belzer was allowed to walk. "If it was one of us, we'd be locked up right now," Fox said, noting that after the incident, Belzer was waving to people and shaking hands.
Efforts to contact Belzer were unsuccessful.
