"Law & Order" exec producer/showrunner Barry Schindel has inked a multiyear drama development deal with Studios USA.
Pact calls for Schindel to create, develop and produce hourlong programming for the studio. He remains "Law & Order" showrunner this season.
"Barry Schindel is truly a double threat: an exceptionally gifted writer with a strong, original point of view who is also one of the most capable showrunners in television," said Studios USA programming prexy Sarah Timberman. "The fact that 'Law & Order,' in its 12th year, is ranked fifth among all primetime series speaks volumes not only about the strength of Dick Wolf's original creation, but also about Barry's producing talent."
A former trial attorney for the New York City Legal Aid Society, Schindel became a writer/producer and served as co-chairman of Gotham-based Kardana Films. He joined "Law & Order" in 1999 as a scribe/producer. He was tapped exec producer two years later.
"Working at Studios USA with David Kissinger, Sarah, Dick Wolf and everyone at 'Law & Order' has been a great experience, and I look forward to continuing that success in the years ahead," Schindel said.
Schindel is repped by Tom Hoberman. |
