Dianne Wiest's teenage daughter was charged with robbery after she allegedly roughed up a male schoolmate and then stole his iPod with the help of two friends.
Emily Wiest, 17, Lara Zieden, 18, and Leah Rucinski, 15, reportedly beat up a 16-year-old classmate outside the Beekman School in Manhattan on Friday, April 22. According to news sources, the girls then allegedly stole his digital music player and sunglasses.
The bruised teen reported the girls to the police, who arrested them an hour later. The trio was arraigned the following day on robbery charges and released on their own recognizance. They face up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
The Manhattan District Attorney's Office is prosecuting the case. Coincidentally, the elder Wiest played Manhattan District Attorney Nora Lewin for two years on NBC's "Law & Order."
The 57-year-old Oscar and Emmy winner can currently be heard as the voice of Mrs. Copperbottom in Fox's animated "Robots." |
