Variety is reporting the newest L&O is a strong contender for cancellation. I guess the American public has FINALLY reached it's saturation point with these shows. Here's the relevant portion of the article:
Peacock appears poised to end "Law & Order: Trial by Jury," the fourth edition of producer Dick WolfDick Wolf's "L&O" brand. SkeinSkein's lackluster ratings performance on a tough Friday night skedsked makes NBC's decision understandable, but the PeacockPeacock's longtime relationship with Wolf makes a cancellation of the skein after less than half a season stunning.
NBC reps said net would not comment on any speculation about pickups or scheduling, including the fate of "L&O: TBJ." A Wolf spokeswoman also declined comment.
"Law & Order: Trial by Jury" opened soft for NBC this spring, failing so far to catch the franchise's fire.
After 10 airings, the show has averaged 11.2 million viewers -- making it the least-viewed of the four "Law & Order""Law & Order" series. Last week's episode averaged just a 2.8 rating/9 share among adults 18-49, placing it second for the Friday 10 p.m. hour (behind CBS' "Numbers").
"Trial by Jury" is a departure from the three other "L&O" series, focusing on the judicial system (with no police work attached). Bebe Neuwirth, Tracey Kibre, Amy Carlson and Fred Dalton Thompson star; the late Jerry Orbach was originally also slated to star but completed only a handful of episodes before passing away.

Mais franchement, dire que TbJ est la moins regardée des séries L&O est une aberration totale... Le vendredi soir affiche traditionnellement des chiffres moins élevés que les autres jours de la semaine, donc ce n'est pas DU TOUT une surprise...
Lorsque la chaîne a programmé TbJ dans la case de SVU (à l'occasion du crossover), la série a fait un carton assez phénoménale...
Ceci dit, je suis obligé de concéder que TBJ a été quasi systématiquement battue par Numb3rs... et ça c'est effectivement décevant...

PS: On peut aussi s'interroger sur le cafouillage autour du lancement de la série (la date a changé au dernier moment) et sur le fait que les 12 épisodes de la saison 1 ont été diffusés en seulement 2 mois !!! <_<
Comme je le disais il y a quelques jours dans un autre topic, on devrait être fixé lundi prochain à l'occasion des Upfronts de NBC (présentation de la grille de rentrée...).

Verdict still out on renewing 'Law & Order' show

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - NBC insists it has yet to render a final verdict on the future of its highly touted "Law & Order: Trial By Jury," but Hollywood's leading show business papers reported on Friday the struggling show appears headed for the slammer.
The fourth, and least watched, edition of the venerable "Law & Order" franchise from producer Dick Wolf has lagged in viewership numbers since its mid-season premiere in March. The show stars Broadway and TV veteran Bebe Neuwirth as tough Manhattan prosecutor Tracey Kibre.
The Hollywood Reporter, citing unnamed sources, said NBC was not expected to renew the show as part of the 2005-2006 programing lineup the network will unveil on Monday in its annual "upfront" presentation to advertisers.
Likewise, Daily Variety reported that "Trial By Jury" appears poised for the NBC dumpster.
Nearing the end of its first season since hit comedy "Friends" left the air last May, NBC is eager for new hits after plunging to fourth place behind CBS, Fox and ABC in both total viewers and the 18-to-49 age group it has long dominated.
During the upfront, the networks show off their fall TV lineups hoping to lure advertisers to buy time on their networks. NBC's rivals are looking to boost their share of advertising dollars at the expense of the General Electric Co.-owned NBC, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Averaging 11.2 million viewers a week after 10 episodes, "Trial By Jury" ranks No. 32 in household viewership among all prime-time shows for the season. The low ratings come as a big disappointment for NBC, which has been buoyed by higher ratings for its other "Law and Order" shows.
OTHER SHOWS ON THE EDGE
Neither NBC nor representatives for Wolf would comment on the show's future. But there was little doubt that "Trial By Jury" is one of numerous shows whose fate hangs precariously between renewal and cancellation as all the major networks firm up their prime-time schedules for next season.
Other NBC series said to be questionable for next season are the 1960s-era drama "American Dreams," sitcom "Committed" and "The Office," a quirky workplace comedy adapted from the British TV hit of the same name.
Shows on the cusp for rivals include "Eyes," "Blind Justice" and "8 Simple Rules" at ABC; "Judging Amy," "Joan of Arcadia" and "Yes, Dear" at CBS; and "Bernie Mac," "Quintuplets" and Emmy-winning comedy "Arrested Development" at Fox.
Kicking off the upfront presentations on Monday, NBC is mulling several high-concept shows, including religious-themed drama "The Book of Daniel," which depicts Jesus as a modern-day personal confidant of a pill-popping priest.
Other shows in contention at NBC include undersea monster thriller "Fathom" and "The E-Ring," starring Benjamin Bratt and Dennis Hopper as Pentagon-based guardians of homeland security.
Even without "Trial By Jury," NBC would still have three other incarnations of the venerable "Law & Order" franchise on its schedule -- the original series that debuted in 1990, plus spinoffs "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Je tiens juste à vous rappeler que "Las Vegas" , "Crossing Jordan" ont des moyennes d'audiences identiques à celle de "Law and Order : trial by jury" et qu'elles ont été toutes les deux renouvellées !! Donc gardons espoir !
C'est malheureusement confirmée mais Law & order trial by jury a été annulée.

Argh, c'est VRAIMENT dommage...
C'est la loi de la télé US, mais c'est toujours difficile à accepter lorsqu'une bonne série en est victime...
La bonne nouvelle (même si elle ne concerne pas les séries Law & Order) est que Arrested Development est renouvelée pour une troisième saison malgré des résultats très très faibles depuis déjà deux saisons... Comme quoi, les exécutifs des chaînes (en l'occurrence la FOX) ne pensent pas toujours qu'aux audiences (dommage que TbJ n'ait pas eu la même chance... ).

Le renouvellement de L&O, SVU et CI jusqu'à mai 2006 était déjà officiel depuis mai 2004 (cf. cette news).
Merci, c'est vrai j'aurai pu trouver cette info sur le site,(la honte!!!) mais avec cette mauvaise nouvelle je craignais le pire pour les autres.
